The Guizhou CMM Recovery and Utilization Initiative officially began with the kickoff press conference on September 7th, 2007. As the Initiative's primary goal is to reach the greater Guizhou and International coal mine community, the media gave the initiative its first boot into the CMM scene.
In addition, the press conference included presentations by several key representatives necessary for the success of this project. Mr. Chunbao Zhai, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Environmental Protection Bureau welcomed the project. Mr. Mingjie Huang, Director of the Guizhou International Cooperation Center for Environmental Protection introduced the Initiative, which was followed by a presentation by Mr. Qingfu Chen, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Coal Mine Safety Bureau. Mr. Chen gave a presentation about current CMM drainage and utilization status in Guizhou. Mr. Ray Pilcher, of Ravenridge Resources, and advisor to the GZCMM Initiative, gave a global overview of the Methane to Markets Partnership and its potential impact on CMM in Guizhou. Mr. Boni Jiang, Project Manager of the CMM Initiative, wrapped the conference up with a description of the goals and expected outcomes of the Guizhou CMM Initiative.
